Play & Mindfulness Activities for Children

Mental Health Awareness Week 18th-24th May

Mental health problems can affect anyone, at any time. For one week each May, the Mental Health Foundation campaigns around a specific theme for Mental Health Awareness Week. This year the theme is Kindness.

Power of kindness calendar

The power of kindness calendar helps children and young people learn about and carry out kind acts. There are different sets of kindness activities for covering different age groups.

The power of kindness calendar is a lovely well-being activity offering ideas as to how your child can practice kindness every day and record it on the calendar!

Please check out the Red Cross website for some lovely ideas linked to mental well-being.  As well as the calendar the website offers additional resources, such as:

Five activities of kindness and resilience

  • Develop resilience and encourage kindness through activities on routine building, coping mechanisms and acts of kindness.

Kindness teaching resources

  • Children, young people, parents and teachers can use our free and engaging online resources during the coronavirus lockdown. Each one explores and promotes the value of kindness.

A-Life

At A-life, what they love the most is going into schools, motivating and inspiring children directly with their hands-on, fun and educational healthy workshops. They can’t wait to do that again, but in the meantime they wanted to make sure they continue to help children and their families with their physical and mental health and well-being.

A-life have created some activities based on their most popular school workshop activities, adapted for online/at home use.

Check out their website, there may be things on their worth looking at for other members of your family. Pass onto your friends too!

Enjoy!
